Position:       Ruby on Rails in Austin

Length:        6 month plus

The position will be a coding/programming role with a strong user-interface design component for the Web and Data Service Group.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Possess and continually expand technical proficiency in the following key technical areas: Ruby, Ruby on Rails, UI design using JQuery, Bootstrap, and other Javascript/CSS frameworks.
  • Develop and maintain web application code in Ruby on Rails.
  • Provide CSS-based UI design and implementation.
  • Follow best practices for Ruby, Javascript, and CSS coding.
  • Ensure quality product delivery with thorough testing.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of standard server configuration images.
  • Provide off-hours support for urgent production issues.


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Good understanding and experience with object-oriented design, coding and testing.
  • 4+ years experience developing dynamic, data-driven browser-based applications with Ruby, Java, or PHP, with proficiency throughout the web stack.
  • 2+ years experience with Ruby 3.2.x or higher, Ruby 1.9.3 or higher.
  • 2+ years experience with Rspec, Shoulda, or MiniTest.
  • 2+ years experience with CSS and Javascript.
  • 2+ years experience, and demonstrable understanding of SQL and the basic principles of data modeling. Enterprise database (SQL Server, Oracle) preferred.
  • 1+ years experience with Linux server configuration and BASH scripting.
  • Experience coding on multiple projects at a time.
  • Experience working on a SCRUM-based agile team.
  • Excellent communication skills both, written and verbal.
  • B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.


Preferred:

  • Experience with Rails 3.x.
  • Experience with Ruby 1.9 and/or Ruby Enterprise Edition.
  • 2+ years experience with web server configuration (Apache, IIS).
  • 2+ years experience using a web content management system (CMS).
  • 2+ years experience with Web Services.
  • Comfortable in both, a UNIX and Windows based environment.
  • 1+ years Oracle
