Windows Administrator

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: Windows System Administrator will provide technical support to the Windows/VMware and SAN support unit(s) by participating at the design, engineering and Project Management levels.
The Windows System Administrator will meet with the various Project/Support teams to determine requirements and work with the Windows/VMware and SAN teams, build and support the necessary Windows/VMware and SAN systems that run and operate the business.
NATURE & SCOPE OF POSITION:
• Install and maintain all Windows/VMware and SAN system software, such as Operating System, device drivers, and firmware.
• Install and maintain Windows applications, SAN and Backup software, as well as other system tools
• Install and maintain any non-Windows OS-related systems, such as report spooling and archiving.
• Set up, install, and maintain any time-initiated jobs as needed by the system or user applications.
• Provide hardware and software recommendations to fulfill the needs of business and ISS initiatives.
• Ensure back up of all system-related files for full backup and recovery capabilities.
• Monitor overall system performance, including providing management with periodic and historical performance statistics.
• Set up Users and Groups as required within various operating systems to control access to system resources.
• Set up file permissions as required to control access to specific files and directories.
• Provide second level support of daily activities of the Windows/VMware/SAN environment in conjunction with Data Center Operations (DCO).
• Provide management with performance and measurement statistics for planning and reporting purposes.
Desired Skills and Experience
KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIES (SKILLS & ABILITIES)
• Requires Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related job experience, or minimum eight years experience in information systems; minimum 5 years Windows/VMware/SAN Systems and Client Server systems experience.
• Expertise with Microsoft Operating Systems
• Expertise with various Networking protocols, tools and processes
• Requires excellent verbal and written communications skills and team oriented attitude.
