Job Description
Requirement : Unix Application Support consultant
Location : Houston, TX
Duration:6- 12 months
Description:
Require background in Unix and application support in general, with the ability to learn new things. A plus would be someone with familiarity networking since Reuters, Morningstar and Haver all get data over the internet and have 3rd party network, FTP connection and use proxies etc. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal are a must since he/she will be interacting with S&T, external vendors, and across organization such as ITC folks.
1. Act as the primary technical point-of-contact between Chevron and various Market Data vendors.
2. Provide support for Market Data desktop applications (Thomson Reuters Eikon, Morningstar Commodity Charts, Haver DLX).
a. Investigate and resolve reported incidents from end users, desktop support personnel and the Global Market Data group.
b. Initiate packaging requests and coordinate testing of new versions of desktop applications on the GIL Options Panel.
3. Provide support for Market Data applications running on ITC-managed Linux servers (Thomson Reuters ADH, ADS & DACS; Morningstar Commodity Data Server, Haver)
a. Investigate and resolve reported incidents from the end users, desktop support personnel, the Global Market Data group and the vendor.
b. Manage configuration and application changes/upgrades.
c. Create and update documentation and diagrams.
d. Write and test Perl/shell scripts as needed, to automate tasks.
4. Coordinate with other internal support groups within Chevron (e.g. ITC DCA Unix and ITC network security) to troubleshoot problems and perform changes in support of areas 2 & 3.
5. Perform system administration duties on S&T-managed Unix systems, when the primary system administrator is not available.
