Job Description – Technical Lead

Location: South San Francisco, CA

Duration: LongTerm

Tentative Start Date: ASAP

 

Technical Lead

Accountabilities:

·         Develops, enhances, integrates and/or supports software computer systems, business applications, data management systems, and/or other programmable or configurable software components.

·         Applies current technology, tools and techniques toward solving business problems. Generally requires knowledge of information technology and functional or business are processes and requirements.

·         Solutions may involve design, implementation, test, debugging, performance tuning, documentation, validation, and support. Implementation may involve development of operating procedures and/or training of service personnel and end users.

·         Analyze, design, code / configure and test software to develop systems to meet business and technical requirements

·         Ability to translate business requirements into maintainable software components and understand impact (technical and business)

·         Ability to understand business drivers and processes as it relates to software development

·         Knowledge of software vendor processes (support, product, consulting), interaction with vendors and understanding of vendor product roadmap and strategy

·         Adhere to high quality software development lifecycle process (e.g., Agile, Waterfall)

·         Support solutions through monitoring, response to service problems, defect resolution, configuring software, root cause analysis and preventive actions

·         Participate in service capacity planning and software performance analysis and tuning

·         Contribute, review and influence on-going design, architecture, integration (e.g. API) standards and methodology for software development

·         Apply current technology, tools and techniques according to established standard practices

·         Development of operating procedures and training of support organizations

·         Knowledge of information technology and expertise in a specific business or functional area

·         Provide work estimates, identify risks and dependencies for new systems, implementation plans for enhancements, defect fixes

·         For validated computer systems, follow and apply necessary procedures and controls to meet and maintain regulatory compliance

·         Develop and maintain technical specifications, drawings and supporting system documentation

·         Participate in technical peer reviews (design reviews, configuration and solution walk-throughs, test reviews, and root cause analysis sessions)

·         Collaborate cross-functionally on small to large and complex efforts

·         Experience in full software development lifecycle from requirements gathering, design, software development, configuration of commercial off-the-shelf applications, testing and retirement of systems

·         Knowledge of integration technologies, programming languages, design tools, source code control, testing tools, and monitoring tools is a plus

·         For validated computer systems, knowledge of regulatory requirements including CRF Part 11 / EU Annex 11, GxP and computer systems validation

·         User interface design, usability tools, user experience, as needed

·         Mobile application development, as needed

·         Algorithms, database queries, transactional logic, as needed

·         Overall understanding and some proficiency with technologies such as Force.com, Java, JSP, HTML 5, PHP, XML, WSDL, integration middleware , web services, PL/SQL, Perl, Business Objects, Crystal Reports, etc.)

·         Familiar with operating systems and infrastructure

·         Knowledge of architecture sizing based on business volume is a plus

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·         Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into software solution specifications

·         Strong analytical and logic skills

·         Strong collaboration skills with ability to work in a diverse and global team

·         Strong business analysis and facilitation skills

·         Ability to interact and communicate with customers

 

Dimensions:

·         3-7 years of experience

·         BS in Computer Science or related field / degree

·         Medium complexity of systems or projects (where complexity may be determined by impact to the business, # of users, # interfaces, # integration points, degree of user interaction, data validation, computations, etc.)

·         Lead small – medium teams (may be across a few sites, functions)

·         Review and guide the work of colleagues and contractors/consultants

·         Share information with staff and project team members

·         Identify and implement improvements to existing tools, techniques, and standard practices

·         Represent team with internal customers

·         Prepare and deliver presentations to peers / project teams

·         Works with limited supervision with some guidance

·         Develop estimates, create work plans, track progress and provide status

·         Provide coaching and mentorship of junior developers

Senior Technical Lead
