Job description:
•Requires basic knowledge of server technologies of hardware, software and operating systems, platform installations
•Develop and implement technical solutions based on defined business requirements.
•Uses existing procedures to solve routine problems and applies limited judgment and discretion while responding directly to clients regarding routing request in a timely manner.
•Collects data, performs basic needs analysis and effectively communicates results to others within technical area to identify and develop new processes
•Requires detailed working knowledge of server technologies of hardware, software and Operating systems, platform installations, networking/distributed computing environments, routing client/server configurations.
•Demonstrates a strong bias towards service, quality and customer satisfaction; applying information on past experiences and assist other in applying these lessons to solve problems.
•Fulfills detailed service requests and advanced problems directly with the clients in a timely manner.
•Requires in-depth knowledge of server hardware, software and Operating systems, platform configuration installations, networking/distributed computing environments and routing client/server configurations to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support core organizational functions.
•Responsible for the building of servers and the necessary components (hardware/software) to achieve project goals.
•Responsible for the documentation and staff training on their aspect of the project.

Specific Duties, Activities, and Responsibilities:
• Respond to and resolve server and operating system issues assigned through the ticketing system
• Identify technical environment issues and implement solutions to mitigate problems.
• Perform routine proactive server maintenance activities including firmware upgrades, patching etc.
• Research and test recurring problems, determine anomalies within supported software applications
• Update and create technical product trouble-shooting documentation
• Assists with input on small scale server projects
• Analytical, technical and administrative work in the planning, design and installation of new and existing computer systems.
• Identify complex technical environment issues and implement permanent resolutions to mitigate problems.
• Perform advanced proactive server maintenance activities including HP blade chassis maintenance, cluster/high availability maintenance etc.
• Optimize company servers and related components to achieve high performance of the various business applications supported by tuning the servers as necessary.
• Develop processes and procedures for ongoing management of the server environment.
• Build servers based on the designs developed by working closely with the project team to gather and interpret specifications for Server Hardware and Software.
• Serves as an expert within a technical area and educates others on technical issues.
• applies proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments.
• Work closely with project management, technical services and support group, external vendor partners, and the client to ensure a smooth implementation and transition of the servers and related products
Experience: 7-9 years of experience in required technologies and qualifications
Qualifications (Minimum Education or Equivalent): Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Experience with Server Administration
• Experience with networking technologies
• Understanding of enterprise storage concepts including disk partitioning
• Ability to multi-task
• Excellent analytical abilities
• Good co-ordination and organization skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Experience as an Engineer providing support for large projects from requirements through implementation
• Able to analyze, develop, and enhance engineering workflow processes.
• Working knowledge of configuration of fiber-based tape and disk environments
• Experience writing in various scripting languages.
• Experience debugging implementation issues.
• Knowledgeable in Microsoft Project with the ability to create, modify and execute implementation plans.
• Open Systems Experience
• Experience implementing "High Availability" (HA) concepts and ability to implement the various vendors' software/solutions in this environment.
