You will perform and manage tasks related to the development of reports, support, administration, optimization, and maintenance of MYSQL and SQL Server databases and database tools.
· Assist with the administration and configuration of Linux systems.
· Create, maintain and update documentation.
· Work with the technical staff to implement monitoring of Linux servers, databases and database performance using Nagios.
· Assist technical staff to improve system and database performance.
· Formulate, implement and improve backup procedures for all company databases.
· Serve as the primary technical support resource for any database-related performance or access issues.
· Generate ad-hoc and routine reports for database health and performance.
· Administering, maintaining, developing and implementing policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of company databases.
· Designing and performing data migrations and transformations as required by new acquisitions.
· Possessing substantial knowledge about application and database performance profiles of all databases under management
Desired Experience:
· 3 or more years of Unix usage and some administration experience.
· Experience with Vmware which includes deploying and configuring guests.
· You have 3 or more years of database administration experience using MySQL or SQL Server 2008
· You have 3 or more years of experience leveraging SQL Server Management Studio and SQL Server Integration Services
· You have 3 or more years of experience with TOAD, Erwin, and SQL Management Studio
· You've reviewed, written, debugged, and tuned PL/SQL & T-SQL code for 3 or more years
· You've gained 3 or more years of experience with physical database characteristics such as table design, relationships, data partition, efficient indexes, storage allocation, capacity planning and other attributes
· You also have 3 or more years of experience in performance tuning and load testing of databases
· You have 3 or more years of experience designing databases and development such as stored procedures, triggers, views and other similar attributes
· You've spent 3 or more years of your career troubleshooting complex technical issues and leveraging your knowledge of database security concepts
· You possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college and/or university (preferably Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering)
· You are an analytical thinker who can make informed decisions quickly and manage multiple work streams
