Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) is building a new development sub team of 4, to implement database chances for regulatory filing.
The role is high visibility – candidates need to have good communication skills as they will be working with Controllers and Senior Quant Analysts
This will be 60% database development and 40% Java & Slang (Slang exp not required)
Tech stack required:
Strong SQL – Must have experience optimizing complex queries
Strong Java backend development experience
Strong Data warehousing, Data modelling knowledge
Any scripting experience is okay – their preference is Python and Perl as they are both similar to Slang
Strong DB experience - Sybase IQ preferred
Knowledge of Fixed Income, Swaps and Equities helpful

Job Summary & Responsibilities:
The PWM Reporting DB team is responsible for designing and implementing de-normalized databases to provide accurate and timely information about the assets of Private Wealth Management (PWM) clients to various parties including the PWM sales teams, operations, management and the clients themselves. The information includes reference data such as Account and Product attributes as well as financial information like the trades and assets of clients. The AMR team sources this information from a trade processing system on a real time basis using a real time replication infrastructure. This team maintains more than a terabyte worth of information for all PWM clients globally.
Responsibilities include:
Design and Develop new software for PWM applications
Support & Maintain existing functionality
Develop technical specifications based on functional specifications
Implement new projects and enhance the existing software
Basic Qualifications:
3+ years of relational DB experience (Sybase)
3+ years Perl in Unix environment development
3+ years of Java Application Development
Self-starter; Strong Analytical Skills
Strong Problem Solving Skills
Hands on and good understanding of a transactional environment
Good ownership and communication Skills
Highly motivated to take on new project responsibilities
