Primary Skill Accessbility and Usability
At least 5+ years of work experience in the field of Web & Mobile accessibility;
Familiarity with legislative and industry-based standards such as W3C/WAI Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, WAI-ARIA, and ADA Section 508 Guidelines;
Active participation in professional web accessibility circles, including experience organizing discussions, groups, and initiatives;
Proficiency with modern front-end web development, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript;
Knowledge of web architecture, including asynchronous interactions, JavaScript middleware, and application development;
Experience with assistive technology such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, Window Eyes, and accessibility features in Windows and Mac;
Familiarity with commercial web accessibility evaluation and reporting tools;
Understanding of user experiences (including complex online tasks and mobile- and device-centric interaction);
Ability to manage trade-off between Accessibility Compliance and Usability
Provide accessibility recommendations on wireframes and visual designs
A track record of successfully applying accessible design principles to the web development process;
Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with executives, engineers, and the public;
Capacity to effectively disseminate and implement organization-wide accessibility standards once the standards are established and the ability to clearly communicate the ways that standards apply to different roles and responsibilities;
Ability to lead and facilitate both detail-focused training sessions and strategic, executive-level discussions; and the collaboration and organization skills necessary for working across multiple teams while functioning as a self-managing staff member.
Knowledge on PDF and Multimedia accessibility will be a plus
