JOB DESCRIPTION:
As a Software Engineer in Test (SET) at AutoTrader.com you will be responsible for designing and developing code and tools that will be used to test our cutting-edge web applications for desktop and mobile devices that enable access to AutoTrader.com products and services. In this exciting position, you will work hands-on with Python, Java, JBoss, REST based web services, Selenium, Solr Search Engine, SoapUI, LISA, and TestNG unit testing in an Agile development environment. In addition to designing and developing automation tools and scripts, the SET will also be responsible for reviewing the work performed by other SET’s working on a variety of collaborative software development teams in a fluid, fast-paced Agile environment. This position will play a key role in developing the next generation of test automation that will be used to test the functionality and capability of AutoTrader.com’s applications.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
· Create project level test design strategies that utilize the best and most efficient test methods
· Develop and maintain comprehensive suites of automated tests that are developed in Selenium, Cucumber, Python, Java, or other programming languages
· Develop automated test tools and scripts and execute the testing for all assigned projects
· Adhere to the development and coding best practices for automated testing
· Perform manual and exploratory testing for all assigned projects
· Actively participate and collaborate in an Agile Scrum delivery team or Waterfall project team and help the team consistently meet its delivery and quality objectives
· Maintain an expert level of knowledge of AutoTrader.com applications
· Mentor and train other SET’s
· Contribute to the progression of the automated testing strategy that includes how to best perform automated testing at all layers of application and programmatic interfaces for the AutoTrader.com application enterprise
· Contribute to the progression of the automated testing strategy that includes automated testing in all phases of the software development life cycle and all facets of testing (component, functional, integration, regression, performance, etc.)
· Promote the adoption of and adherence to the automated testing strategy and automation best practices
· Collaborate with Development and Technical Architects on software designs that will increase product testability through automation
· Produce metrics and analysis of test automation measures for IT leadership and other project team members
· Exhibit a solid understanding of Agile principles and software development practices, including test driven development
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· 1+ years of combined Object-oriented development and automated testing experience
· Able to code and debug automated testing scripts, Java, or Python code
· Able to develop SQL queries (Select and Update using Joins)
· BS or MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
· Experience with the following is desired:
o Selenium, Cucumber, LISA, SoapUI, Ruby, Perl or other scripting language
