JAVA and Clinical Laboratory Informatics Management Software (LIMS) Programmer/Senior Programmer
As a full service clinical laboratory, we are constantly looking for new technologies and new methodologies that will help us grow. People are our most important asset as we continue to grow and drive advances in technology.
As our genomics and next-gen-sequencing (NGS) programs expand rapidly, we are seeking two (2) software engineers (actual job title negotiable) in open seniority levels to join our recently established Bioinformatics department. The successful candidates will work in a highly collaborative environment and participant in software development work in order support the company’s end-to-end delivery of clinical reports in the genomics programs. The scope of the work will include:
1. Primary: Work closely with CLIA-certified genomics laboratories to develop and customize laboratory information management systems (LIMS) to meet their 24/7 operational needs. Develop databases, API servers and clients to interface and interconnect a diversity of in-house and commercial software systems to streamline data- and work-flows.
2. Secondary: Develop scripts, databases and interfaces to facilitate NGS data movement and data archival in compliance to established data management policies. Support the R&D department in novel algorithm implementation; optimize R&D software codes for stability, efficiency and scalability; and migrate R&D analytical pipelines to production use in parallel high-performance computing cluster.
The Bioinformatics Software Engineer / Senior Bioinformatics Software Engineer position will provide opportunities for the successful candidates to:
1. Work on the cutting-edge of the NGS-based clinical diagnostics field and cope with exciting advancement in the field;
2. Work with a variety of operation systems and database servers;
3. Gain industrial experience in CLIA- and CAP-certified environment.
Job Requirements
1. Four-year degree required, preferably in computer science, information systems, bioinformatics or closely related majors;
2. Experience in JAVA, Web and Database development required;
3. Experience in genomics/NGS LIMS systems (e.g. Clarity, Exemplar and LabVantage) preferred;
4. Linux scripting skills (Shell, Python, Perl, etc.) is a plus;
5. Knowledge and skills in any of the following not required but is a plus: knowledge in bioinformatics; knowledge in human genetics and genomics; experience in NGS data analysis and variant calling; understanding to computing, storage and networking hardware.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
