Position: OpenStack Operations Engineer Location: Reston, VA Duration: Long term They are looking for an OpenStack Operations Engineer to join their OpenStack Cloud team to work with their internal development and service teams to build tools and automation which will more effectively deliver exceptional outcomes for customers and generate higher quality development releases. Key Responsibilities of the OpenStack Operations Engineer · Deploy business applications by designing, automating and deploying applications on production infrastructure · Build automation and tests for customer deployments and product releases · Follow Agile development processes and methodology · Look for trends and/or opportunities to improve customer environments · Manage communication of progress/status to stakeholders for those initiatives owned or being developed · Work closely with our internal development and service teams to test the deployment of new offerings against specific, active customer scenarios to ensure high-quality products are built, tested, and released on time · Recommend standards for deployments/environments · Provide a troubleshooting escalation point to own and solve customer issues, offer workarounds for immediate resolutions, and identify and communicate corrective actions to be taken by development/support · Serve as a SME for specific area(s) of OpenStack · Work with the OpenStack community to address technical issues and contribute to the OpenStack community · 24 x 7 on call rotation Qualifications of an OpenStack Operations Engineers: Advanced: · Strong Linux skills · SME level knowledge of one or more areas of OpenStack (Nova, Compute, Cinder, Neutron, etc) · Networking experience (TCP/IP, VLAN, Routing) · Experience with firewalls, DNS and load balancers · Coding ability, must be able to automate routine tasks · Previous monitoring experience in a production environment · Exposure to Virtualization (preferred) · Able to understand and troubleshoot the 7 layer stack from top to bottom · Practical experience any of these would be advantageous: o Linux (Ubuntu, RedHat, CentOS) o VMWare, OpenStack, KVM, Qemu, AWS, S3, EC2 o Hypervisor configuration (VMWare, KVM, XenServer) o Storage protocols (NFS, iSCSI, FC), and virtual networking and storage configuration o MySQL o RabbitMQ o Python o Perl o Puppet or Chef o Ruby o Hadoop o Apache o IPTables · Experience with Caching technology · Contributions to Open Source software, experience creating White papers · Ability to consistently deliver support to customers and co-workers · Create and maintain customer loyalty by serving customers above and beyond their expectations · Experience in a role where exceptional attention to detail was clearly demonstrated · Motivated self-starter, who demonstrates relentless ownership of issues through completion · Able to multi-task and remain effective under pressure · Proven strong verbal and written communication Advanced: · Computer Science degree or equivalent experience · Five (5) or more years of work experience · Three (3) or more years hands-on experience supporting a production Linux environment · Two (2) or more years of work experience operating or supporting OpenStack Thanks & Regards, Vasu IntelliSoftTechnologies, Inc. 1320 Greenway Drive STE460 Irving, TX 75038 Ph.
