Below are the job details.   Job Title – Progress Database Administrator (DBA) Location: Duluth, GA Duration: Long term contract   Job Description:   Maintain the global services application environments used to support Worldwide Customer Service Division. The individual will participate as the technical lead/mentor on a team of 9-10 members, which will be responsible for administering the applications and databases in the development/test/production environments.   The job requires a highly motivated individual with excellent analysis and problem solving skills. The interested individual must be willing to share in a weekly support rotation where 7x24 availability is a necessity. The individual must have a strong desire to learn new skills and constantly evolve existing ones. The individual will be expect to interact with the developers and technical departments to promote information sharing, coordinate enterprise information architecture and provide data management operations to ensure the security, quality, performance, and accessibility of the databases and directory structures.   Functional Responsibilities and Skills Required: Responsible for the Customer Services Progress DBA deployment and support for the globe. Manage a total of 1000+ progress instances, all multivolume databases. Perform technical analysis and troubleshooting on complex database problems. Identifying root cause close-loop activities for technical problems. Provide proactive monitoring and alert notification for system outages. Incorporate standard support tools for tracking problems, reporting, capacity performance and SLA metrics. Establishes all database instances (i.e., testing, production, training, demo) to support the various phases of the implementation. Design and implementation of several offline backup procedures using EMC mirroring technology to mitigate database downtime.   Basic Requirements BS/BA in Computer Engineering, MIS or equivalent degree Preferred Requirements Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language. Minimum of 4-5 years proven Progress DBA experience. Minimum of 4 years working experience in following areas   Progress RDBMS version 9 and 10. Must possess excellent progress database performance tuning skill Must have good working knowledge on Unix/Solaris/Linux platform.
