Location: Washington, DC Job Title: Business Architect Duration: Contract-6 months, plus Position Description: Responsibilities: - Strategy: Contributing to the Support of Managers and other Business Owners in evaluating capabilities and strategies.
- Feasibility analysis of business strategies/ideas.
- Providing input in development of Strategic/Business Capability Roadmaps.
- Identify opportunities from market research and un-realized internal potential.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Business Systems Architect in driving the development and refinement of FEPOC's Business Architecture capability / repository.
- Extract and translate business strategy into business architectural requirements.
- Design and implementation of business processes and strategies.
- Ensure that new initiatives are in line with overall architecture.
- Leadership
- Managing workflow within the Business Systems Architecture area
- Mentor and train Business Systems Architects
- Facilitates and conducts forums to deliver process updates and impacts on various departments
- Serve as POC for architectural business issues
- Ensure adequate tools and resources are available to meet business objectives.
- Initiatives: Support Business Solutions Delivery Teams
- Provide oversight and input in concept feasibility and development of business cases.
- Facilitate and participate in decision analysis/resolution (DAR) and anticipate organizational needs.
- Manage the business systems architecture participation in SDLC
- Review conceptual architecture design to ensure business functions and features are being delivered.
- Identify operational readiness needs and work with Business Owners to identify gaps prior to deployment.
- Support PMO and Resource Managers by providing estimates for new initiatives. Support statements of work and releases from D.O. of BCBSA with input from 39 BCBS FEP Plans.
- Methodology: Define and establish Business Architecture tools & best practices within the SDLC methodology
- Works with Enterprise Business Systems Architect and Business Owners to create and implement architectural frameworks (TOGAF) and methodology to support FEPOC needs.
- Collaborates with Enterprise Business Systems Architect in establishing governance and processes on how modeling should happen.
- Work with Enterprise Business Systems Architect in providing input in the development and maintenance of delivery practices such as updating templates, artifacts and packages used throughout the CMMI process to refine and make them more effective.
- Seek Continuous Improvement - Analyze existing tasks, processes, methods, metrics, and reporting used to perform all functions and recommend appropriate business process improvements within the competency.
- Business Modeling/Documentation:
- o Leads the process of collecting and documenting business processes within FEPOC
- o Oversees the building and maintain process modeling and documentation repository
- o Oversees the training/forum schedules. Ensures dissemination of processes and updates that impact the business are delivered in a timely manner.
Requirements: - This position requires a BA/BS in computer science or related field or a certification from technical school, OR equivalent experience, plus at least 8-10 years Healthcare payer business operations experience in high-level systems and/or applications and/or network design and/or architecture, business analysis, development, as well as with database design and access, and familiarity with networking fundamentals; and 3-5 years leading large complex projects and teams of matrixed resources.
- Experience with business and systems analysis and design methodologies and tools, and experience with large and complex systems.
- Excellent analytical, planning, and communication skills.
- Project Management experience.
- Experience with multi-system/platform program integration.
- Strong knowledge of FEPOC business processes including IT systems and SDLC.
- Strong knowledge of quality control processes.
- Demonstrated high-level skills in at least one of the following: logical and physical applications design; technical documentation; full-cycle system development; web and/or web application server administration.
- Strong knowledge and demonstrated ability to manage SDLC processes.
- Demonstrated awareness of new systems technologies and how they could be leveraged to benefit the company, customers and providers, new business strategies and corporate initiatives.
- Possess the technical knowledge of all components of one or more operating systems or subsystems and have a broad understanding of the business as well as existing platforms, applications, data and hardware.
- Must possess the qualities, skills, business acumen, experience, and discipline to ensure business and systems architecture alignment.
- Strategic thinking and leadership with strong abilities in relationship management.
- The ability to interface across several channels, acting as a visionary, to assist, proactively in developing project direction.
Preferred: - Masters in Computer Science or Business Administration or related field.
